About the export: The GIF is built directly in your browser from 60 precise frames (one full rotation) — no server required, and it loops seamlessly. GIF works everywhere (perfect for saving/sharing) but produces a larger file than video. MP4 is encoded by your browser's built-in video encoder and gives you a smaller, sharper file.

How to make a spinning vinyl video

  1. Upload your cover art. A square image, at least 1000 × 1000 px, works best. It becomes the label on a vinyl record or covers a whole CD.
  2. Style it. Choose Vinyl or CD, pick a background colour or image, and show it as a Disc, in a Sleeve, or inside a Case. Set 33⅓ or 45 RPM.
  3. Export. Choose Instagram Post (1:1) or Story (9:16) and download a looping GIF or MP4 — ready for Instagram, Reels, TikTok and more.

Is Vinylspinn really free?

Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no hidden fee — upload an image, export your GIF or MP4 and download it. It runs entirely in your browser, so there is no server cost that would require charging you.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Vinylspinn draws your image onto the spinning disc and builds the exported file entirely on your own device, using your browser's canvas and video tools. Your image is never sent anywhere — it only leaves your device if you choose to download the result.

Should I export as GIF or MP4?

MP4 is the better choice for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Spotify-style loops: it is smaller and sharper, and modern browsers encode it quickly with their built-in video encoder. GIF works everywhere and is handy for chats and quick sharing, but the files are larger. Browsers without built-in encoder support fall back to a converter that downloads the first time you use MP4.

What image size works best?

A square image of at least 1000 × 1000 pixels. On vinyl the image becomes the round label in the middle of the record, so keep the important part of the artwork near the centre; on a CD it covers almost the whole disc.

What sizes can I export?

Instagram Post (1:1) exports at 1080 × 1080 and Instagram Story (9:16) exports at 1080 × 1920, as either a looping GIF or an MP4. Each file is exactly one full rotation, so it loops without a visible jump.

Can I use it for Reels, TikTok or Spotify Canvas?

Yes. Pick the Story (9:16) format for Reels, TikTok and other vertical loops. For Spotify Canvas, check Spotify's current requirements first — length, size and content rules, including rules about text and branding, are set by Spotify.

Does the video have a watermark?

Yes — a small vinylspinn.com credit at the bottom of the frame.

What's the difference between Vinyl, CD, Sleeve and Case?

Vinyl and CD choose the kind of disc. Presentation changes how it is shown: Disc is the record on its own, Sleeve shows it sliding out of a square cover, and Case places it inside a clear jewel-case frame.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in current mobile browsers. On older browsers MP4 export can be slower because it falls back to a software converter.
